Information We Collect
PrivaPDF processes all documents entirely on your device. During normal operation, no document content, metadata, or personal information is transmitted over the internet.
The only network communication occurs during license activation and periodic license validation (about once per week). When you activate your paid license, the following is sent to our license validation server (api.privapdf.org):
- Your purchase email (your license identifier)
- A machine identifier (hashed, non-reversible)
No other data is transmitted during activation or revalidation.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- No telemetry — we do not track how you use the software
- No analytics — no usage statistics, session data, or behavioral tracking
- No document content — your PDFs never leave your machine
- No crash reports — errors are handled locally
- No cookies or tracking pixels — we have no mechanism to track you
How Documents Are Processed
All PDF processing — PII detection, redaction, and file saving — happens locally on your device. Documents are read from your local file system, processed in memory, and saved back to your local file system. At no point is any document content sent to any server.
Third-Party Services
License Validation API (api.privapdf.org): Used only during license activation and periodic validation. Receives your purchase email and a hashed machine identifier. No other third-party services, analytics platforms, or tracking services are used.
Data Retention
We do not store personal information on our servers beyond what is necessary for license management. License activation records (email and device association) are maintained solely for license management purposes.
Children's Privacy
PrivaPDF is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
